Shani's Story

Shani Dayal is a meditation teacher whose experience with yoga dates to her childhood. “Yoga was introduced to me at a very early age, where I saw my parents and grandparents do it regularly,” Dayal says.

Dayal first decided to pursue a career in architecture after finishing high school, graduating with a Bachelor of Architecture from the School of Planning and Architecture in New Delhi, India. She even started working in a high-pressure job at Integral Designs International Studio in New Delhi, but it often resulted in her sitting at desk for up to ten hours a day. “This lifestyle brought its own share of health problems. The work also always included meeting deadlines and working under pressure,” she says.

During this time, Dayal continued to practice yoga as it fed her personal passion, until she transitioned to teaching it professionally because she understood it was her calling, “I completed my 200hrs Registered Yoga Teacher training from Yoga Alliance. I trained under Dr. Tejvinder Monga at Namah Shivaya, International school of Yoga and Meditation,” she says.

Dayal continues to expand her understanding of Yoga, through completing her foundational course on Yoga from Kaivalyadham and training under a variety of teachers who represent the best in their field. In 2018, Dayal opened her yoga studio, Shani Yoga, where she now teachers Hatha, Vinyasa and Yin yoga.
