More than two decades ago, Zia Nath watched a sacred dance performance that changed the trajectory of her life. In that moment, it became clear to her that sacred dance could bring us to a dimension beyond religion and spirituality. The grace of the simple yet perfectly coordinated movements and complex footwork, along with the soul-stirring music, left an indelible impression on Nath and shifted her career. “Dance is not just an activity or passion — it’s my religion, my spirituality, and my path in life,” she says.
A certified paramedical practitioner, Nath practices biodynamic craniosacral therapy and a self-developed work, Somatic Intelligence, at her clinic in India. She is India’s first internationally certified biodynamic craniosacral therapist and organizes diploma courses in the subject. Nath also specializes in sacred dances of ancient cultures and conceptualized the show Realms of Dance TM, a presentation of sacred dance and whirling that incorporates the music and poetry of renowned artists and mystics. Blending years of study and interest, Nath created a new dance style called Whirling Mandala TM, which she teaches internationally and through online workshops.
