Championing for Global Compassion: Nobel Laureate Kailash Satyarthi at RoundGlass India Center

Seattle University's Roundglass India Center had the privilege of hosting Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Kailash Satyarthi, who delivered a compelling discourse on the global movement for compassion. Reflecting on his extensive humanitarian journey, Satyarthi shared insights into his vision to universalize compassion, aiming to restore justice, peace, equity, and sustainability worldwide.

A key aspect of Satyarthi's vision involves defining, evaluating, and enhancing the “compassion quotient” within each of us. By cultivating a deeper sense of empathy and understanding, he believes we can collectively pave the way for a more compassionate and harmonious world.

The event served as a call to action for all individuals to embrace compassion as a guiding principle in their lives, fostering positive change and solidarity across communities. Satyarthi explained how in a world where empathy often feels scarce, the reminder to prioritize compassion resonates deeply. Each act of kindness, each moment of understanding, contributes to a ripple effect that can ultimately lead to a more just, peaceful, and equitable society.

The evening concluded with a special book signing for Satyarthi's compelling work, Why Didn’t You Come Sooner? The book is a poignant narrative that spans the gripping raid and rescue operations of Satyarthi's Bachpan Bachao Andolan to the expansive canvas of international campaigns for child rights. The book illuminates the journey towards justice and dignity.
