In search of a deeper place of being, Gayle Van Gils discovered meditation shortly after college through Chögyam Trungpa, who was teaching meditation in what’s now known as Naropa University in Colorado. “I realized that was the thing I was looking for that would actually allow me to find the deeper place in myself,” she says.
Van Gils went on to become a senior teacher within the Buddhist lineage of Shambala, but she didn’t consider that as a career path because mindfulness was still not in the mainstream. Instead, she got an MBA and started working in the human side of business, where she discovered the techniques in meditation were applicable to the work she was doing.
Today, Van Gils is an award-winning author, leadership consultant, and life coach whose approach opens both the minds and hearts of her clients. Her intuitive, direct, and caring process supports greater focus, engagement, connection, and a productive and compassionate workplace.
