In France, you get a side of culture with your meals. And in the capital, your taste buds get the royal treatment at every corner.
I’m vegetarian, so couldn’t try fancy French dishes such as foie gras, scallops, and frogs’ legs. However, there is much more to French gastronomy than just non-vegetarian fare. I walked through street markets, eating and buying juicy plums, berries, grapes, figs, and more.
I went to chocolateries and tasted melt-in the mouth chocolate displayed like artwork in glass jars and packed like gold bars.
In my quest to experience food beyond just eating it at a restaurant, I signed up for a gourmet tour with the famous Anne Murarro. Anne specializes in art and history tours and she not only took me to the best places for wines, cheeses, and chocolate but also gave me a glimpse of French history. I sampled the dainty pastries at one of Paris’s oldest pastry shops.
I wrapped up my food walk with a sample of delectable cheeses at La Butte Fromagerie. Food, for me, is an essential part of my wellbeing, and the sights, sounds, and tastes of Paris left me deeply satiated and soul-satisfied.
