A Himalayan Sound Bath in Ibiza!
We often use the term “vibe” to describe how we relate to someone, how we feel about a place, or how a piece of music affects us. But have you ever thought what “vibe” really means? And pondered the significance of vibrations in our lives? Everything and everyone has a vibrational frequency, and this has a bearing on our mood and mental wellbeing. This explains why some songs and types of music, and sounds, make us feel a certain way.
In Ibiza, I tried out a Himalayan sound bath with Mirabell, a filmmaker and a visual artist who spent seven years in the Himalayas, studying Tai Chi, healing, and therapeutic sounds. The sound bath, hosted at the ATZARÓ Agroturismo hotel, featured famous Sufi musician and mystic, Tahir Qawwal and Alexandra Amie. Mira uses “full moon singing bowls” for her sound baths. These bowls are made especially on full moon nights in the Himalayas to achieve high-quality sound energy from the musical notes scale.
At the start of the session, Mira told me, “The sound bath will help tune your body and soul back to its natural state of being, taking it back to the ‘true’. It will help remove your mask and release traumas, stress, or hidden emotions you didn’t even know you’re storing in your body.”
And she was right! Mira’s session left me feeling peaceful and calm — intention combined with sound can have a magical effect on your wellbeing and help you celebrate life.
