Tyagi Shurjo committed his life to the goal of self-realization at 21 when he took his monastic vows. Growing up, he always questioned life’s true purpose, its real meaning. His turning point to his true path came while studying at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in Kolkata, India when he chanced upon the book, “Autobiography of a Yogi.”
Shurjo has lived and served in Ananda ashrams in Pune, Delhi, Assisi (Italy), and Nevada City (California, U.S.), and since 2018, Shurjo and Narayani have taken on the roles as spiritual directors at Ananda Sangha Mumbai. The organization uses the teachings of Paramhansa Yogananda to assist others in identifying and curating innate joy in their lives, through sustaining peace, calm, and stress-free living, according to kriya yoga. Ananda also functions as a community where practitioners can find love, friendship, and support on their path to self-realization.
Shurjo has published several books, including “One United Ray” (2018), “A Pilgrimage Called Life” (2019) and “Rajarshi Jankananda – A Modern Saint (Part 1)” (2021).
