Hoihnu Hauzel is an independent journalist with over 15 years of experience in leading Indian dailies such as Asian Age, Indian Express, Hindustan Times, Times of India and The Telegraph. She is also a recipient of the Reuter’s Fellowship for International News Writing.
A certified Gastronomic Tourism professional from Le Cordon Blu in Paris, Hoihnu left full-time journalism in 2010 to branch out with two start-ups – Northeast Odyssey and The Northeast Stories.
As an independent writer, researching and writing about food gives Hoihnu a real sense of joy. A majority of her work chronicles the ingredients and culinary legacy of her home state of Manipur and the North-eastern region of India.
During the pandemic, Hoihnu started Covidtales, a platform to celebrate the human spirit and document the impact of the pandemic on different aspects of life. For her, a mindful existence is one where physical and spiritual life happily coexist.
Currently working on a solo project documenting the food habits and edible or medicinal herbs from Northeast India, Hoihnu considers herself a part-time gardener and farmer at heart.
